The Iowa Irish Fest is excited to announce that champion Irish dancer Catherine Cross will be performing at the upcoming Winter Concert Series events. Cross will appear on Friday, February 20, with Socks in the Frying Pan, and again on Saturday, March 7, with the Screaming Orphans.
A native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Cross has been a competitive Irish dancer for 18 years. She is currently studying at the University of Dubuque as an Irish American Scholar. Throughout her career, Cross has earned top honors at World, Provincial and Regional Championships, most recently placing 6th at the World Championships.
The Winter Concert Series kicks off next week with Socks in the Frying Pan, forged together in 2014 by a shared passion for traditional Irish music. Known for their signature “Socks Sound,” the trio blends virtuosic musicianship, pitch-perfect harmonies, quick wit and infectious on-stage banter. Their electrifying performances have established them as leaders on the Irish traditional music scene.
The second Winter Concert Series performance will take place on Saturday, March 7, featuring the Screaming Orphans. This chart-topping, all-sister folk and pop band from Ireland is celebrated worldwide for its award-winning sound and genre-defying fusion of traditional Irish music and original pop songs. Their spine-tingling four-part harmonies, instrumental mastery and high-energy performances create an emotional and unforgettable musical journey for audiences of all ages.
Both concerts will be held at the Oster Regent Theatre in downtown Cedar Falls.
