Dublin project Craic Machine have released "Someone Said My Name", a high-energy single that pairs driving electric guitars with the relentless tenor banjo of Galway virtuoso Enda Scahill. A four-time All-Ireland champion, Steve Martin Banjo Award winner and founding member of We Banjo 3, Scahill brings full-throttle precision and attack to a track that marks a clear shift from the project's debut.
Where "Night Mode" stayed low and patient, "Someone Said My Name" hits hard and keeps moving. The guitars are big and insistent; Scahill's banjo cuts through them with the kind of sharp, infectious energy that has made him one of the most exciting players in Irish traditional music. It feels less like a mood piece and more like a barnstormer — the same anonymous Dublin operation, just louder and faster this time.
The single comes with a dark, graphic video, premiering on 23 October at 18:00. The visuals lean into high-contrast silhouettes, deep blues and blacks, and a ghostly, almost spectral presence — a cinematic, slightly noir atmosphere that matches the project's deliberately opaque world without explaining it.
Craic Machine's second single pairs Scahill's distinctive banjo attack with heavier guitars, pushing the project into more immediate, high-energy territory while keeping the same core sound that defined "Night Mode". The collaboration brings a sharper edge without losing the project's directness.
"Someone Said My Name" is the second single from the project. A debut album is expected in early 2027, with sessions already under way and a rotating cast of players said to be involved. As before, Craic Machine are not confirming names.
"Someone Said My Name" (feat. Enda Scahill) is out now on all platforms.
