Closing out their 11th Annual Irish American Movie Hooley film festival last month at the Wilmette Theatre, Hibernian Media NFP proudly announces a new monthly film salon series beginning October 24-25 with the help of Hibernian’s Irish American Labor Alliance. The Monthly Movie Hooley will take place at the twin anchors of our Irish American community: The Irish American Heritage Center Mayfair Theatre and Chicago’s Gaelic Park Celtic Room. Both venues provide food and beverage service before the show as well as access to their bar during the screenings.
Mike Houlihan, Chairman of Hibernian Media, brings over 50 years of experience in the entertainment industry with him as he and his family will screen and promote a series of Irish and Irish American films each month in these twin locations. Houlihan sez, “One of the lessons we’ve learned over the years with our “Movie Hooley” is that there is no venue for Irish AMERICAN films to thrive and inspire Irish filmmakers as they create the masterpieces that will encourage their peers in cinema. We’re going to change that, with the help of our Irish American Labor leaders and new sponsors who recognize the need for a home for Irish AMERICAN filmmakers.”
On the weekend of October 24-25 the Monthly Movie Hooley will kick off the series with the video version of GOIN’ EAST ON ASHLAND, Houlihan’s one-man comedic masterpiece that enthralled and entertained Chicago audiences for over six years running from 1994—2001.
