Author Bio

Teresa Bateman has the good fortune to live on the green side of Washington State and work as an elementary school librarian. She is the author of several books for young readers.
"I was born in Moscow, Idaho, but we moved to Washington when I was three, and that's my home state where I still life. I grew up in Issaquah, Washington, graduating from Issaquah High School. My Associates degree came from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and my Bachelor's degree is from BYU in Provo, UT. I have a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington.

I love to travel. I served a mission in Argentina, for my church, and have also taught school in Honduras. Therefore yes, I speak Spanish. I also taught school in bush Alaska, up in St. Marys. For the past 29 years, however, I have been a librarian in the Federal Way School District in Washington.

I've been writing all my life. In fact, I took so many writing classes in college, for fun, I could probably have minored in English. When they saw my transcripts and issued my Washington Teacher Certificate they qualified me to teach English to 12th grade, along with my standard teaching certificate. This was rather unexpected and I giggled when I saw the certificate. High School English was never my goal. Libraries are where I love to be.

Writing is a vital part of my life. I write daily, and enjoy sharing my work with students and family. I can get ideas from just about anything. The world is full of interesting things, isn't it? The funny things is that my students don't think having an author as a librarian is unusual. It's the only thing they know. They think ALL librarians write books.

I believe everyone has at least one good book inside of them. The only difference between an author and anyone else is that the author actually puts the words down on paper."
