To all the patrons, families and fans who support and love the Irish Marching
Society’s Saint Patrick’s Celebration, greetings!
Good news! We will be sponsoring a St Patrick’s Driving Parade for Saturday March 13th,
The Driving Parade will be comprised of several divisions of decorated vehicles and jeeps
from the Screw City Jeep Club. All vehicles must be street legal and all the normal operating
laws for the state of Illinois apply. Make sure your decorations can withstand normal
speeds without falling off. The idea is simple, participants will gather in their vehicles at
the designated parking lot, be broken into divisions, adjust their decorations, be given
suggested routes to drive, leave the parking lot at the designated time and drive the
suggested city streets to give maximum exposure to the citizens of Rockford of our
celebration of the Irish culture and heritage.
The staging area will be the former Magna grocery store parking lot on East State Street,
next to Don Carter Lanes. The line up will begin at 2pm kickoff at 3pm. The IMS will
provide guidance in the staging areas and provide routes for each division so that the
majority of the city may experience the Parade.
A donation of $10 is asked for each vehicle and a $50 fee for each commercial/political
entry. Fees/donation can be paid in advance on the website or at the staging area via cash
All participating vehicles must be registered via the IMS website.
The not so good news is that we will not have a Marching Parade or PaddyFest for the
month of March. However standby for a Half Way to St Paddy’s Day Marching Parade and
PaddyFest in September around the Labor Day celebration. More to follow on the Facebook
