Irish Fests in the Area

Several Irish Festivals will be held in our area over the next few months.
Here is some information on a few of them.

Get your Irish on at the 32nd annual Irish American Heritage Festival on July 7, 8 and 9

Irish Fest showcases the finest in local and international Irish and American music, dance and family activities. The festival is held on the grounds of the Irish American Heritage Center and is our biggest fundraiser.

Confirmed performers are: Gaelic Storm, We Banjo 3, Scythian, Makem and Spain, Tupelo, Michael McDermott, Rory Makem, the Young Folk, RUNA, Baal Tinne, bohola, the Boils, Bua, Cash for Kids Showcase with Iron Horse and the Dark Passengers, the Chancey Brothers, the Sean Cleland Band, James Cramer, the Dirty Wellies, the Dooley Brothers, Kevin Flynn, the Gleasons, Great Whiskey Project, Irish Heritage Singers, Kennedy’s Kitchen, Larkin and Moran Brothers, Misericordia Heartbreakers and Heartzingers, Mulligan Stew, Jim Sullivan, Jimmy Moore and Friends, Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band, St. Stephen’s Green, the Tooles, Trinity Irish Dancers and Dylan Walshe.

In addition to the great music lineup, the weekend is packed with festival favorites: Irish and American food and drink from vendors, step dancing, cultural exhibits, children’s activities and dozens of vendors and artisans selling Irish gifts. Activities include contests for adults and children and cultural exhibits and programs in the Art Gallery, Library and Museum.

Tickets are $10 in advance if purchased by the end of the day on July 5 and $15 thereafter. Children 12 and under are free.

Fest hours are: 6pm to Midnight on Friday, July 7, Noon-Midnight on Saturday, July 8 and Noon-11pm on Sunday, July 9. Sunday Mass and BreakFEST is at 10:30am. Fest parking is free and a free shuttle runs all weekend from Wilson and Lamon.

 Milwaukee Irish Fest
August 17-20 2017
Milwaukee Irish Fest, the world’s largest celebration of Irish and Celtic music and culture, is excited to welcome Dublin’s world-renowned TradFest Temple Bar for its very first engagement on U.S. soil. The special TradFest Dublin Showcase will be hosted on the grounds throughout the four-day festival, which takes place, August 17 – 20, 2017 at Henry Maier Festival Park on Milwaukee’s beautiful lakefront. Special showcase acts include: Cúig, Frankie Gavin, Dermot and Flo, The Young Folk, Aoife Scott, The Maguires and Paddy Keenan. www.irishfest.com

 Mad Gael Music Fest 2017
August 25-26 - Breese Stevens Field
Madison Wisconsin
The Made Gael Music Fest is a celebration of Irish and Scottish Culture, held in Madison Wisconsin.
A little over 2 hour drive from Chicago, the fest features this year include Celtic music on two stages, with headliners including:
Skerryvore on Friday, We Banjo 3 on Saturday. Other great bands include: Jig Jam, The Screaming Orphans, The Garry O’Meara Band, Kiana June Weber, Runa, The Moxie Strings, Rising Gael and The Kissers.

There will also be an Irish craft beer selection, whiskey tasting classes, vip seating area, A Taste of Madison, dancing and piping exhibitions along with a gaelic games exhibition, travel and cultural displays and a Celtic merchandise row. www.madgaelmusicfest.com

 13th Annual Dubuque Irish Hooley Fest

The 13th annual, 1 day outdoor, Irish Hooley Music Festival includes world-class Irish music, Irish Dance, cultural events, food & gift vendors, and beverages from Ireland and America.

12:00pm – Irish Hooley Gates open at the Dubuque Star Brewery and Alliant Amphitheater!
12:30pm - Opening Ceremony with Ancient Order of Hibernian’s Dubuque County Divisions!
12:45pm – Dubuque Fire Pipes & Drums entertain the Irish!
1:15pm - Veterans Salute by Brigadier General, Bob Felderman, US Army Retired.
1:30pm - McNulty School of Irish Dance kicks into high steps!
2:30pm – Ballyheigue, Dubuque’s newest Irish band
4:00pm – The Lads of Dubuque, a returning local favorite Irish Band
6:00pm – Connla (voted Ireland’s best new band of 2016, and Chicagoland best Irish band 2016)
8:30pm – Led Farmers (returning from a successful 2016 U.S. tour and Irish Hooley Headliner)

Food Vendors include Dubuque County Fairgrounds, L. May Pizza, Freddie’s Popcorn, Tater Booth, Chocolate Hog BBQ, and Mi Ranchito Tacos; gift vendor Shamrock Imports, and our beverages are from Matthews Distributing, Stone Cliff Winery, Potosi Beer, 7G, and Pepsi of Dubuque.
Cost to enter is $12.00 on the day of the event, and advance discount tickets are now on sale for $10.00.
Advance tickets at Shamrock Imports (4th and Bluff St), Premier Bank (9th and Iowa Street), Family Beer and Liquor on Hwy 20 in East Dubuque, Happy’s Place (Rockdale Road), and Butt’s Florists (University Ave at Asbury Rd).
In the past twelve years, over $471,000 was contributed in the area. For 2017, we have identified FOR THE KIDS as our primary hosted non-profit.
The event seeks to involve young and old alike so that together we may all gain a greater gn Relations, the Irish Hooley was founded to promote Irish and Celtic music, cultural events, education venues, and international exchange in the Dubuque and TriState Region, and it is an established 501(C) 3 non-profit.

The Peoria Irish Fest brings three days of entertaining, family-friendly Celtic culture to Central Illinois. There's something for everyone, even if you're not Irish!

Bands from Ireland, Scotland, Canada and all across America have "played in Peoria." Irish dancers, Highland games, unique crafts and shopping, and delicious food and beverages make this the largest Irish festival in Illinois outside of Chicago.

Some of the entertainment includes: Goiste, Runa, Outside Track, Cuig, Here Meets There, American Rogues, Whiskey of the Damned, Wild Colonial Bhoys, and Switchback.

Children under 12 are free if accompanied by an adult. Free entry on Sunday, August 29, between 930 - 11am with a canned good donation.

Online tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, August 23 and will not be available for purchase at the gate. Daily entry tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.
