The campaign to purchase and install a memorial stone for Father Patrick McCabe is underway.  The unveiling and commemoration will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Mary's Cemetery outside of Waseca, Minnesota.  A reception will follow at the Waseca County Historical Society (more details to follow).
Five big developments:

Joan Mooney, Director, Waseca County Historical Society has generously offered us a space in their facility to hold the reception after the unveiling and commemoration at Father McCabe's grave and will help publicize the event in the Waseca area.
Michael O'Reilly, President, County Cavan P&B Association & County Cavan Football Club in New York has told us that the Association will throw its full support behind our effort to memorialize Father McCabe, a Cavan man himself.
As mentioned, the Fenian Memorial Committee of American has its own email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. The Background:
Father McCabe of Arnaghan, Lough Gowna, County Cavan, Ireland, was instrumental in the escape of John Boyle O'Reilly, and later, six military Fenians on the whaling vessel Catalpa, from exile in Western Australia to freedom in America.  Fr. McCabe had to leave Australia and eventually made his way to the United States and rural Minnesota.  With the help of Bishop Ireland of St. Paul, Minnesota, he eventually became the parish priest for St. Mary's in a hamlet near Waseca, Minnesota. It was considered a "mission" church for immigrant (mainly Irish) farmers.  He remained there for many years until his death and is buried in St. Mary's graveyard and there is a memorial window in Sacred Heart Church in the nearby town of Waseca.  Although the parishioners erected a beautiful Celtic cross at his burial place, there is nothing that indicates his heroic role in the escape of the Fenians from an Australian penal colony to America.  Our "mission" is to pay him proper tribute, finally.  The Fenian Memorial Committee of America has recently undertaken an effort to erect a stone at the base of his grave memorializing his heroism.

We must raise $3500 to erect the long overdue memorial stone for dear Fr. McCabe.
