For the 5th year running you can swing by Peggy Kinnane's Irish Pub and Restaurant 8 N. Vail in Arlington Hts. to pick up a loaf of Colleen Gallagher's delicious Irish Soda Bread. Chicago native Colleen Callaghan Gallagher will be baking and selling every weekend in March. What once was a fund raiser for Irish Dance has turned into a yearly ritual for Colleen and her entire family. Baking her grandmother Bridget Therese O'Malley 's(Co. Mayo) recipe which has been in the family for 60 years, is no small feat. She bakes 100-200 loaves per night in a commercial kitchen to keep up with customer demand. Each loaf is beautifully wrapped with shamrocks and a green satin ribbon. Perfect for gift giving or a delicious addition for your St. Patrick's Day Dinner/Celebration. This Irish soda bread is so delicious that people from all over the northwest suburbs stop by to get their yearly treat! Come into Peggy's for a free sample. Colleen's moto is "If they try it, they will buy it".
You can stop by the parade in Palatine on March 15th at the Farmers Market to pick up a loaf, or call Colleen directly (847)340-0894 to place an order for pick up. Don't miss out on this once a year delight!
