The world’s largest celebration of Celtic music and culture and the world’s largest trad fest have once again joined forces to start an initiative aimed for emerging Irish/Folk artists.
Milwaukee Irish Fest and TradFest Temple Bar teamed together to turn TradFest’s annual ‘Live at the Hub’ showcase into a competition, where the act with the best performance wins the opportunity to perform at Milwaukee Irish Fest 2018 and TradFest 2019.
The showcase offers a platform for artists to propel themselves to the next level of their career. All acts selected to perform as part of the showcase have a unique sound and talent, and most importantly, a passion and love for their music.
This year, the six showcase artists performed at the historic Old Storehouse Bar in Dublin to an enthusiastic crowd and were judged by a panel representing both festivals. The artists were musically diverse and brought forward a great level of talent.
Milwaukee Irish Fest and TradFest are delighted to announce and congratulate the band Kern as the showcase winner.
Kern is a contemporary folk trio from County Louth, Ireland. They perform a selection of traditional Irish music and original compositions. ‘False Deceiver,’ their debut album, features thunderous sets of traditional tunes and lyrical, atmospheric songs and has already garnered significant national airplay in Ireland.
“We were thrilled to take part in this year’s TradFest Temple Bar showcase in the company of such great bands. Even more thrilled to have won and looking forward to going to Milwaukee Irish Fest,” said Kern.
Milwaukee Irish Fest is excited to add Kern to the extensive festival line-up. The festival line-up announcement will be made on March 9, 2018 at the We Banjo 3 Concert in Milwaukee, at The Pabst Theater. For more festival information, visit Milwaukee Irish Fest
