Metropolitan Water Reclamation District President Mariyana Spyropoulos visited Mother McAuley High School on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 to talk to senior science students about the waste water treatment process.
The class, led by teachers Dr. Roz Iasillo and Lane Vail, is competing in a competition through Lewis University to come up with systems that can be used to clean waste water.
President Spyropoulos described how the MWRD treats 1.5 billion gallons of wastewater a day for Cook County residents and businesses. “I always enjoy visiting my Alma Mater,” said President Spyropoulos. “Seeing the intelligence and curiosity levels of the students here lets me know our future is in good hands”
